Mercy, a 19-year-old young woman, found herself in a desperate situation that led her to attempt to take her own life by drinking pesticides. Originally from Uganda, Mercy moved to Kenya with her parents for farm work. Three years ago, her parents returned to Uganda, leaving Mercy behind after she married a local man who worked as a motorcycle driver.
