Laboratory & Imaging Services
The hospital performs about 60,000 lab tests and 4000 imaging studies yearly. The hospital laboratory expanded it’s working space in 2022 and added a new automated chemistry analyzer and coagulation measuring machine. The lab does a full hematology profile, a broad range of chemistry tests (liver function, blood sugars, kidney function and cholesterol profiles). We can test for infectious diseases including malaria and HIV and have microscopes to test for parasites in the blood or stools. Our blood storage facility attempts to carry different blood groups so transfusions can be used in emergency settings and during operations or with blood loss during deliveries.
Our imaging department does x-rays and ultrasound studies and has the ability to do portable ultrasounds and x-rays at the bedside or in the operating rooms. When necessary we refer patients for CT scans or MRI scans to Eldoret.
